GST Calculator – Calculate Goods and Services Tax Easily
A GST Calculator is a simple yet powerful tool that helps you compute the Goods and Services Tax (GST) amount and the final price of a product or service. Whether you are a business owner, freelancer, or consumer, this calculator helps you quickly determine how much GST you need to pay or what the actual price before tax was.
GST is an indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services. In India, GST rates typically range from 0% to 28% depending on the type of product or service. This calculator supports both GST Exclusive (adding GST) and GST Inclusive (removing GST) calculations.
What is GST?
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a value-added tax levied on most goods and services sold for domestic consumption. It is paid by consumers, but remitted to the government by businesses selling the goods and services.
Key GST slabs in India:
0% – Essential items (milk, eggs, bread, etc.)
5% – Common use items (sugar, tea, coffee, etc.)
12% – Products like computers, processed food
18% – Most services and products (soap, shampoo, AC services, etc.)
28% – Luxury items (cars, tobacco, aerated drinks, etc.)
How Does a GST Calculator Work?
The GST Calculator works in two simple modes:
1. GST Exclusive (Add GST)
When you have the base price and want to add GST to get the final price:
GST Amount = Base Price × (GST Rate ÷ 100)
Total Amount = Base Price + GST Amount
2. GST Inclusive (Remove GST)
When you have the final price (inclusive of GST) and want to find the base price:
Base Price = Total Amount × 100 ÷ (100 + GST Rate)
GST Amount = Total Amount – Base Price
